Hope everyone had a nice weekend!
I went to a friend's house over the weekend who runs an animation archive/museum at his house and I just about lost my mind. So much amazing history in one place! Hundreds of books, from collections of old comics to art books for movies to collections of prints and paintings. Dozens upon dozens of vintage toys based on old cartoon characters, movie props, original cels and roughs from cartoons and commercials including an original pencil test frame from Gertie the Dinosaur! Thousands of movies from LaserDisc to VHS to DVD to BluRay spanning every genre you can imagine. Absolutely amazing!
We watched Mad Max 2: Road Warrior (which I've never seen before) in his home theater, it was totally badass but I thought it ended super abruptly? I thought Max was in some deep shit and was getting all excited to see how he was gonna get out of it and then, doink, movie was over. I've been cautioned that Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome is not anywhere as good or worth watching but I feel like I have to now, if for no other reason to finally be able to understand all the "WELCOME TO THE THUNDERDOME" quotes I've ever heard, and then I'll finish it all off with Fury Road. I wonder if Walker or Meloy would be a bigger fan of the Mad Max movies? (Hint: Meloy would be.)
Have a good week everyone, see you on Friday!
